April 15, 1970

David Michael Richard Cadwell was born on April 15, 1970 in Dublin, Ireland. And the world will never be the same.

As a child, he developed a fasination with America. At the age of eight, he decided that he would live in America one day; America was the golden dream. This was the point at which he learned  all about Baseball and American Football. And the young lad was hooked. He supported the New York Yankees and the San Francisco 49ers. He would listen to the American games on the radio, and watch them on the tele whenever he could.

In school he got invovled with hurling; he played goalie. At the age of 14 he played for Dublin on the under 18's team. He even played at Croke Park (a stadium in Dublin that even puts Yanee Stadium to shame).

The Cozy and Bakers Corner became his home. At the Cozy he met Kieran Ryan and Peter Kane, a group that he called The Three Amigos. These guys were his heart and soul, and they helped him through some tough times.

In 1997, Dave wed his love Louise Noonan, and life as he knew it was perfect. Dave and Louise became the proud parents of two wonderful children, Jack and Sophie Cadwell. These two were the loves of his life. He was so proud of them, and they meant the world to him.Unfortuneatly, the union between Dave and Louise did not last, but their bond is eternal. After seven years of marriage, Dave and Louise seperated. His seperation from Louise was difficult for him to deal with. His friends Eric and Fab, from Bakers Corner were there to help him through this time.

In time, he realized that he needed to make his American dream a reality. After taking Jack to a Liverpool football game (Dave's other great love) in September 2005, he visited Kieran who had already moved to New York. Dave was set to move to New York. In the meantime, his very best friend, Gary became very sick. He was hospitalized for a blood disease. Dave spent every day in the hospital with Gary, untill he was released. On Valentines Day 2005, Dave moved to Astoria, New York. His best friend, in New York, Mikey Kremin took him in. In Astoria he became great friends with Dec, Coly, Richie, and Sammy. These guys were his mates to the core. They shared many great times (or as Dave would say, they had a lot of craic), and they saw him through some bad times as well. But through and through they were mates.

Valentines day 2006, his bliss came to a screeching halt when he got the news that Gary died of the blood disease. At great pain to him, he could not go to the funeral. For returning to Dublin to bury his childhood friend, would have meant that he could not return to America for a period of 10 years; this thought was unimaginable to him. In his eyes, America was his home, and Ireland was his past. So he had to suffer this loss in New York, without his Dublin mates. And the pain nearly ate him alive. Since alcohol was the way he had learned to cope with pain, he went back to drinking.

June 2006, Dave met Michele Brickner, and sparks flew instantly. Their "rebound fling" blossomed into a beautiful and everlasting love. They became one anothers companion, love, rock, and protector. They were complete opposites, and blew the top off of each others worlds. Luckily, they shared the most important similarity: they were both Yankee fans.

In August, Dave got sick again. At this point Michele called the whistle on his drinking and his unhealthy lifestyle. He stopped drinking, started taking medication & vitamins, and began eating healthy home-cooked meals. The transformation of his condition was stunning. Michele began to help Dave with his writing. Dave had a blog on www.mlblogs.com. And Dave was looking to turn his sports writing into a professional career.  Dave was so passionate and knowledgable when it came to sports. He would have made a great sport writer, and an even better sports commentator (with that great accent of his). Things were going great, except for the fact that the Yankees did not make it into the World Series.

In October, tragedy struck again. Kieran Ryan died. This event absolutly devestated Dave. His two best friends were dead and gone. As one would expect, he started drinking again. The pain never went away, but he tried to move on. He got a good job at a bar in New York in late October, and he proposed to Michele thanksgiving weekend, by going down on his broken leg. They were happy and enjoyed dreaming of their future together. Things were finally going right for Dave; he was finally happy. He had a great job, a great relationship, a bright future, he made amends with Louise, and was even speaking to his kids fairly often.

One morning Michele awoke to find Dave dead in their bed. Dave Cadwell died on January 13, 2007. He was only 36, and he will be sorely missed. He enriched the lives of all those around him. Its his love and beautiful memory that will keep us going.

Dave's importance comes from who he was, and not what he did. So who was Dave Cadwell?

He was a loving father and a beautiful friend. He defined the term sports enthusiast, and knew all there was to know about baseball, football, and American football. Studying it was a top priority for him. He also loved the news, and telling everyone what was going on in the world. He was a kind and thoughtful man, always looking out for others before looking out for himself. He had to make sure that all those around him were always safe and happy. Dave could never be happy in a room, where even one person was not smiling. He had a live in the moment philosophy, which he fully embodied. He had a great zest for life, and believed that we must spend every moent having fun. He brought life to any room he entered, and always lifted our spirits. He never failed to make us smile. He had so much energy, and so much to give and teach. And he was too young to die!!!

This website is a tribute to that man, who was so thirsty for life, and kind to everyone.

WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU DAVE!!!
